EMBCOL American College of Embryology announces Dr. Brijinder S. Minhas, PhD, HCLD, ELD, ALD, CC, MBA - Embryologist of the Month July 2021
Dr. Brijinder S. Minhas serves as the Scientific Director and Chief Operating Officer at New Leaders In Fertility & Endocrinology in Pensacola, Florida since its inception in 2000 to present. Previously he served as Regional Scientific Director and Vice President of Operations for IntegraMed America. Dr. Minhas earned his Doctorate at Texas A&M University in 1984 under the tutelage of Professor Duane Kraemer, a pioneer in the field of embryo transfer. Dr. Minhas’ early investigations were in the area of transgenic animal creation. He started his career in human IVF in 1986 in Johnson City Tennessee alongside Professor Melvin Dodson at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University.
Dr. Minhas rose to the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology prior to moving to the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Memphis, as the Chief of Reproductive Biology. He has trained many graduate students, medical students, residents and REI fellows in his teaching career. He has several major contributions to the literature, in particular highlighting the integral role of Platelet Activating Factor in the regulation of mammalian reproduction.
Dr. Minhas has been a very early adopter of technology and at the very first State of the ART ABB conference in St. Louis he presented his experience with clinical data on over 500 patients with ICSI. Having performed pronuclear DNA injections in many species, injecting sperm in human eggs came quite easily to him. This early ICSI data was generated by him when he served as Scientific Director at the Center for Human Reproduction in Chicago. Dr. Minhas continues to provide scientific, clinical and business consultancy services to many ART programs through his company, Global Infertility Solutions, LLC. He has lectured extensively nationally and internationally on many different aspects of mammalian reproduction and ART. He is a member of many professional organizations.
