ACTIVE-DUTY MILITARY?

New DoD reimbursement for egg and sperm freezing begins September 14, 2026.

Your military orders may affect your family-building timeline. Fertility preservation can give you another way to think about the family you may want in the future.

Beginning September 14, 2026, a new Department of Defense program provides reimbursement for egg or sperm freezing and related covered services for eligible active-duty service members who meet program requirements.

Have orders—or expect them soon?

Start learning about your options now. Timing can matter.

COULD I BE ELIGIBLE?

The program applies to certain active-duty members of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Space Force who:

  • Have orders, including deployment orders, for qualifying hazardous duty
  • Are determined likely to receive qualifying orders within 120 days
  • Will be geographically separated under orders from a spouse, domestic partner or dating partner for 180+ days, including sea duty

Not sure whether your orders qualify?

The Department of Defense determines eligibility.

WHAT IS REIMBURSED?

For eligible service members who meet program requirements, covered services include:

  • Retrieval
  • Associated medications
  • Required testing
  • Freezing
  • Shipping
  • Storage

UP TO $10,000/YEAR

Egg freezing services

UP TO $500/YEAR

Sperm freezing services

Eligible service members can receive care through a military treatment facility or a civilian fertility clinic of their choosing.

TIMING MATTERS.

Already have orders? Don’t wait to understand your options.

For some eligible service members, covered fertility preservation services must be completed before qualifying orders begin.

Egg freezing in particular involves multiple steps and takes time. If you’re considering fertility preservation, connecting with a fertility practice early can help you understand what may be possible within your timeline.

HOW DOES REIMBURSEMENT WORK?

This is a DoD reimbursement program.

Documentation requirements include:

  • DHA Form 459
  • Command attestation
  • Itemized invoices
  • Proof of payment

Reimbursement generally must be requested within 120 days of the covered service.

The program does not reimburse IVF or embryo creation.

The Department of Defense determines program eligibility and reimbursement. NewLIFE Fertility can help you understand your fertility preservation options and the clinical process.

TWO KINDS OF QUESTIONS. TWO PLACES TO GET ANSWERS.

ASK THE DoD

  • Do I qualify?
  • Do my orders qualify?
  • Which expenses are reimbursable?
  • What documentation do I need?

ASK NEWLIFE FERTILITY

  • Could egg freezing be right for me?
  • How long does the process take?
  • What does sperm freezing involve?
  • When should I get started?

At NewLIFE Fertility, we can help you understand your fertility preservation options, what to expect and the time involved—so you can make the decision that feels right for your future.
